Good locks, an alarm system or a smart home are solutions that give a sense of security, but it can always happen that we forget to lock the doors or turn on the security… And it's not just the thief who is lurking

It is worth additionally protecting valuable items and documents against theft, but also against destruction in the event of a disaster, flooding or fire.
A wall safe is best because it's least visible and difficult to remove. However, they can't be installed everywhere. Wall thickness is crucial, so it's best to plan its installation during the construction phase of the house or apartment. If this hasn't been done, you can choose a furniture safe or a freestanding safe, which will also work, but they must be securely fastened. Especially if they weigh less than a ton, they need to be secured against being removed.
When choosing a safe, it's worth considering what you'll be storing inside. The market offers options that are burglar-proof, fireproof, or a combination of both. Price is a factor. Home safes start at just a few hundred złoty, but the cost depends on the security class, the type of lock(s) used, and the number of locks. The higher the security class, the greater the burglary resistance.
There are many devices available on the market, but it's best to choose those certified by the Institute of Precision Mechanics. This guarantees a high level of security, which is important when purchasing insurance coverage. Insurance companies require that the device be properly matched to the items it will hold.
Safe as a bank
If you don't have room for a safe at home, you can rent a bank or safety deposit box . You can also opt for both, especially if you have a large collection of valuables, such as weapons or jewelry.
In recent years, banks have been unfavorable to customers seeking this solution. Banks have tended to close them, which has led to a decline in access to safe deposit boxes. Today, the service is available at PKO BP, Pekao, BOŚ Bank, Santander, BGŻ BNP Paribas, and Getina. Alior Bank and ING Bank Śląski have withdrawn this service from their offerings.
To choose from, to color
In addition to banks, there are private companies that rent safe deposit boxes. They have the advantage over bank safe deposit boxes in that they are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, whereas bank safe deposit boxes can only be used during office hours. The variety of safe deposit boxes has also increased, with not only small ones for valuables but also medium and large ones, allowing for the storage of truly large items.
"We allow the storage of cash and collectible weapons, which, according to our findings, banks don't accept in their safe deposit boxes. The safe deposit boxes are also designed so that A4 documents can be easily inserted, which has previously been a problem on the market," explains Bartłomiej Dmitruk, CEO of Safebox24. He adds that most bank safe deposit boxes are either uninsured or covered by low-value insurance—on the order of a few thousand zlotys. "Each safe deposit box in our vault is insured against all risks up to 10,000 zlotys without disclosing the contents. The policy amount can be increased to 100,000 zlotys under these terms. If you want a higher insurance amount, you need to specify what you're storing," explains Bartłomiej Dmitruk. The insurance cost starts at 60 zlotys per year.
As for safe deposit box prices, bank deposit boxes start at 400–800 PLN per year, although some banks have recently raised prices several times due to decreasing supply. A private deposit box costs from 1,000 PLN.
